ascend (verb): to propel and reach a higher level of sustainable, long-term success.
I have found 2axend is a professional organization providing expert presenters and topics for communities we work with. We have sponsored 2axend's Summit for three years and recommend the 2axend team if you are looking for an expert supporting the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community in the healthcare field. It is a pleasure working with Corey and his team!

Corey Axelrod provides invaluable training for professionals working with individuals who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing. His workshops for educational interpreters and other Deaf Education professionals provide first hand insight and perspective to help educators and related service providers understand the unique needs of students in the mainstream. His training on the often-overlooked needs of students who are Hard of Hearing is a critical missing link in the world of Deaf Ed.

I have now attended a 2axend training twice – once as an undergraduate and once now in medical school. Most recently, I worked with school leadership to bring Corey Axelrod to teach my fellow classmates best practices in patient care for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals. Advocating for better patient care is important to me, especially as I was born hard of hearing and was first exposed to Deaf culture and American Sign Language (ASL) in college. As medical students, learning from Deaf personal experiences is more impactful than reading from a slide. I’m so grateful to Corey with 2axend and the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine for being willing to teach the next generation of medical students more about cultural humility. My fellow classmates (and future physicians) now have the knowledge necessary to establish a functional physician-Deaf patient relationship.
