Government

Ensure your programming and services meet Deaf and hard of hearing individuals’ unique needs.

Fostering Accessible Governance for Inclusive Communities

Governments and public agencies play a crucial role in creating accessible and inclusive communities. Ensuring that all constituents have equal access to public services, policy decisions, and legislative processes is essential for fostering an inclusive and representative government.

At 2axend, we collaborate with government agencies – ranging from Deaf-led Commissions to state health and developmental services departments – to evaluate decision-making processes and their impact on end-users. Drawing from our niche expertise and deep understanding of the Deaf and hard of hearing community’s cultural, social, and linguistic needs, we empower organizations to mitigate barriers and deliver impactful, accessible programs and services.

Depending on your organization’s needs, we may conduct the following:

Evaluate User-Experiences

Identify and close accessibility gaps through data-driven assessments and audits, ensuring services meet Deaf and hard of hearing community members’ diverse needs.

Policy Review and Development

Ensure compliance with all applicable legal standards while ensuring the needs of signing and non-signing Deaf and hard of hearing constituents are addressed through programming and services offered.

2axend’s Client Work in Government

A state commission for the Deaf contracted 2axend to address critical knowledge gaps within healthcare organizations on Deaf, DeafBlind, and hard of hearing accessibility. In partnership with the state, our team developed a comprehensive guidebook for healthcare providers, outlining key policy changes and communication protocols. As a result, healthcare organizations across the state adopted new standards for auxiliary aids and services, leading to improved compliance and service quality.

A state department of public health partnered with 2axend to meet grant requirements by delivering internal training sessions focused on Deaf cultural awareness and sensitivity. The training emphasized applying the National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) to better serve the Deaf, DeafBlind, and hard of hearing community. Post-training assessments demonstrated a significant improvement in knowledge of Deaf culture, compliance requirements for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), CLAS Standards, and effective community outreach strategies.

Optimize government programming and services

Together, let’s create a future where every deaf and hard of hearing individual has a positive experience with government programs and services.
